Smart Home Installation in Hampstead: Case Study

The priority for this client was feeling secure and comfortable in their smart home in Hampstead.

As well as the décor, there is plenty to set this project apart from others. One of the nicest unique features is the large automated skylight window which opens electronically at the top of the house and provides a stunning view over London. This room also features a very smart custom TV bracket which electronically places itself into different viewing positions.

We installed speakers in all rooms of the house including the shower and under the water in the pool which plays announcements and music that is distributed around the house via the Control4 system.

The pool of this smart home in Hampstead has impressive features such as the escape hatch. This, when open, can be a hazard to anyone leaving the kitchen to go into the garden, so a little warning message through the kitchen speakers when the kitchen door is opened while the escape hatch is open too.  The pool also has a movement detector in the water which alerts the house when someone is in the pool and also has underwater speakers. We also installed a swim timer which plays a siren after the client has been swimming for a certain amount of time (set by client), so of like an egg timer, but for swimming and the client enjoys listening to podcasts on the underwater speakers during a swim.

The perimeter alarm  system around the property announces a detected intrusion to the entire house and all the lights in the house turn on when the alarm is activated.

The home cinema with projector is hidden away when not in use and the drop down, countersunk Vutec projector screen and the Lutron blinds lower at exactly the same time, which is a nice touch. We absolutely love the cinema, it is a very plush set up and the B&W speakers sound incredible. It is a very aesthetically pleasing install which disappears when not in use and restore the room to a more regular living space with a 65′ Panasonic TV.

The Control4 system enables the family to keep a close eye on and control all aspects of the home from anywhere in the house. There is very little that cannot be controlled in the home from the Control4 panel, iPad, or mobile phone. Control4 also enables the client to remote view the security cameras from anywhere in the world.

We are very pleased with how well everything works together in this smart home in Hampstead so perfectly.

This is a beautiful, very large 5 storey house in Hampstead, London, with a basement and a sub-basement. The house has a kind of boutique feel with plenty of rather cool insects and tarantulas in boxes to look at. There is lots of marble and real wood around the house along with a mixture of clean and new with old and used which really adds character to this home. They have a beautiful swimming pool and gym at the bottom and a stunning view over the city at the top.
