KNX

What is KNX?

KNX is an international building control standard. This body monitors intelligent home products and systems and enables them to communicate and work together. With integrated programming, you can source products for every part of your home safe in the knowledge that they all sync and communicate on the same network.

What sets KNX apart?

KNX is not a new concept, it is a mature and established standard (or protocol) for communication between devices such as smart thermostats, remote controls, voice assistants, lighting systems, and other home automation systems. This system is based upon more than 20 years of experience in the market and there are over 300 manufacturers worldwide making KNX compatible components including major brands you will recognise such as ABBHoneywellMielePhilips and Siemens.

Therefore, your system will be as future proof as is possible. If the manufacturer of any piece of equipment you have goes out of business, an alternative can very easily be put in its place because your entire system conforms with the KNX standard. An analogy would be that it’s like buying a Windows laptop or Apple Mac – you know that there are thousands upon thousands of apps and hardware devices that will work with it.

KNX is the only global standard for home and building control with:

  • A single, manufacturer independent design and commissioning tool (ETS)
  • A complete set of supported communication media (TP, PL, RF and IP)
  • A complete set of supported configuration modes (system, easy and automatic mode)

Integrated technology across the home with KNX

This integration relies on all their approved products working on one common software tool. With all your devices speaking the same language, you can reduce the need for cabling and controls and increase cross-functionality at the same time.

KNX is the industry standard

This system is the industry standard and is approved the world over. So whether you want to link up security cameraslighting controls, audio visual equipment, lighting and heating controls, or any other smart home devices, KNX is the way to go.

KNX is approved by:

  • European Standard (CENELEC EN 50090 and CEN EN 13321-1).
  • International Standard (ISO/IEC 14543-3).
  • Chinese Standard (GB/Z 20965).
  • US Standard ( ANSI/ASHRAE 135)

Experience

At MDfx, we believe that a hands-on approach is the best way to gain a greater understanding of the systems we provide. We achieve this by giving our home automation installation and management teams their own personal control systems, which enables them to experience and understand them from the user’s perspective. We also regularly participate in industry and supplier training.

Expertise

Having established ourselves as one of the most efficient and bespoke smart home installation companies the UK, we have been recognised for our work, winning awards for our high standards and the creativity of our services. Most recently, we won the Control4 awards at the Integrated Systems Exhibitions (ISE) in Amsterdam, where we were one of the only AV dealers in Europe to walk away with more than one award.

Aftersales

We design and install all of our systems to operate with efficiency, without fault, and in a way that makes them easy to use and understand. With that said, we do host training sessions to ensure that our clients get the best out of their system and are able to familiarise themselves with all of its functions.
